Wow, what a great time to be writing for the sake of writing. There is so much news on the web that one could virtually write about anything. At this time until I find my niche I will continue to write about food and sports.

I know, there are many blogs about the two, but I promise to keep mine short and to the point while updating often. Here we go!

Women’s Soccer in the US is by far the powerhouse in the world, although the rest of the world is catching up it seems the USWNT is still the clear favorite this summer in the world cup. Last night they tied Japan 2-2 in a friendly that could have been a preview of the final this summer. Listening to the Herd yesterday, he had Lexi Lalas on to discuss why the women are so good and the men are not. The response made perfect sense. The US embrace women sports while the rest of the world does not. Plain in simple. While the USMNT seems to playing catch up to the rest of the world, the USWNT had a clear head start. That lead is slowly evaporating but one the women still enjoy.

Just like in tennis, I don’t care the gender, just want to see good play and hopefully a US win.

Last night, Kim and I headed to Tacos Libertad in Hillcrest. Tacos Libertad, a Cohen Group joint, donates each month to one charity. Not just donates, they donate all proceeds taken in that month after covering their costs. Pretty awesome. I had the El Tacubano and Duck Confit tacos and will have to say they are some of the best designer tacos I have ever had. I may have just made up the term “designer” taco. Let’s put it this way they were not your standard carne or pollo tacos from Nico’s Taco shop, which are good in the own right.

So we took a number and headed to the back room which happens to be a speak easy. What looks like a freezer door is actually an entrance to a really cool bar. One funky lady bartender who made me a standard old fashioned, made with Jim Beam Bonded and some cool music. By the time I sat down after ordering at the bar the tacos where brought back and all was good. The old fashioned was excellent and the night was complete.
