Been a few days since my last post. My day job required trips to Dallas and Cincinnati last week returning home for national margarita day on Friday, then heading to Vegas on Saturday for a 22 hour spell.
First the trip to Dallas which started with a business meeting and then a much anticipated stop at Las Almas Rotas for some tequila. Well Las Almas Rotas was closed on Tuesday night. I get everyone needs a break, but taco Tuesday, the Stars were playing the Predators, and it was a Tuesday. Oh well not my place so I can’t complain. Instead we went over to Exposition Pizza which is embarking on it’s tenth year in business. Get the smoked salmon spread with house made bread. Pretty great stuff. Pizza was different but definitely enjoyable. From there saw the Stars play the Predators at AA Center, which they lost 4-3. Entertaining, had two Coors Lights.
On to Cincy where we ate the Italian staple Ferrari’s in the Kenwood area. Checkered table clothes, free stuffed bread, huge zucchini app and some veal marsala(don’t judge.) What’s not to like? Service was good and the place had a cool old time vibe. Go you will like it.
Friday came and I was back home for national margarita day, and there is no better person than Mike at Alfonso’s of La Jolla in Solana Beach to make a skinny cadillac to get you all revved up! I advise stopping at only 2 as they pack a punch.
Now it’s Saturday and I am on the 10:55 flight to Vegas. Crap, it has been long week. Stayed at the Venetian, ate a late lunch at Black Tap. Had the truffle burger and broccoli side…get both you will not be disappointed. Played more cards, drank more vodka, had a few smokes, met some cool people. Ended up at Yardbirds for some late night grub….burnt ends and wedge salad. Good stuff, not great and I was hammered, so it should have been amazing. I will tell you the bartender was awesome and made a fantastic old fashioned and the wedge was better than most.
Now it’s Monday and I am licking my wounds! We got Machado though, so all is right in the world at this time!
Peace
